Jadon Sancho was back in Manchester United first team training on Tuesday, having not played since October.
The England international has not been out injured, but a loss of form cost him his place in the first team and then has lost fitness as a result.
The 22-year-old had been back at the Manchester United training ground last week and was on a personal schedule before rejoining his teammates.
The Athletic report that Sancho has now been back in first team training at Carrington on Tuesday and will be hoping to be back in a match day squad as soon as possible.
Talking about the situation with Sancho last month, United manager Erik ten Hag explained: ‘First we didn’t see him in the last games for United, so he wasn’t in the right status, in the right fitness state, so now he’so n an individual programme and we want him to finish that programme and hopefully, we see him back soon.’
The Dutchman felt that taking Sancho out of the firing line and working on an individual basis was the best way forward for him to regain his best form and fitness.
‘He was good (pre-season) but also when the league started he played some good games like Liverpool, Leicester and Arsenal,’ said Ten Hag.
‘After we got a drop of level and what happens sometimes you don’t know why or what is causing it. That is what we’re doing now, trying to research and now we try to get him back there. It’s a combination of physical but also mentally.’
Sancho made 10 Premier League appearances before dropping out of contention, last playing at Chelsea on 22 October.
The Red Devils go to Crystal Palace on Wednesday night in the Premier League, which will likely come to soon for Sancho, but they then have a huge trip to Arsenal on Sunday.
