Margot Robbie was joined by her entire family and several friends at the Sydney premiere of her new movie Babylon on Monday night.
And the two-time Oscar nominee’s childhood pals made sure to embarrass her during her red carpet turn.
While she was speaking to entertainment reporter Justin Hill, one of her friends standing behind her yelled out, ‘Hey, maggot!’
‘Maggot’ was Margot’s nickname during school.
It appears to be a play on her first name, but also could be a reference to the fact she is a fan of the band Slipknot, whose fans are known as ‘maggots’.
Margot took the dig in her stride, turning to enthusiastically wave at her pals.
‘I saw my school friends. We have been friends since we were four years old,’ the Wolf of Wall Street star told Justin.
Justin later uploaded the clip to TikTok, and Margot’s fans went wild over her down-to-earth reaction.
‘She looks so comfortable and happy,’ one wrote, to which Justin responded: ‘She was beaming the whole time, was lovely to see’.
It comes after Margot discussed her ‘wild ride’ filming Babylon during her appearance on The Graham Norton Show on Friday.
She admitted she was ‘scared to mess up’ the epic opening party scene, which took two whole weeks to film.
Margot said of the Hollywood drama: ‘It was a wild ride. There were amazing set pieces, including a party scene that took two weeks to shoot.
‘Every part of it was insane and the stress levels were terrifying because there was so much going on and I didn’t want to be the one to mess it up.’
Set in 1920s Hollywood, Babylon centres around the rise and fall of several ambitious dreamers – including the characters portrayed by leading stars Brad Pitt and Margot.
Margot is overnight starlet Nellie LaRoy who is navigating her way through the industry by self-destructing via drugs, parties and sexual encounters.
She recently revealed she went off-script to smooch co-star Brad in an impromptu scene, jesting to E! News: ‘How else am I going to get the chance to kiss him?’
