The title of highest-paid actor has been held by a number of actors over the years, but none of them has retained it as long as Rock has. Dwayne Johnson has held the title of tallest actor for over three years in a row thanks to his enormous stardom. But it’s odd to assume that Henry Cavill forced DC to spend more on his mustache than the previous actor’s pay.
That the much-hyped “Black Adam vs. Superman” will never be published is a loss to the comic book industry. The main reason “Black Adam” had such a large budget was to get such excellent actors. But even the astronomical sum Rock demanded for the movie paled in comparison to what Henry made the studio shell out.
Henry Cavill made the studios pay a lot more than Rock’s salary, just for a mustache.
2017 was a roller coaster year for DC fans. For the uninformed, this was the year “Justice League” got to us in theaters. A huge controversy surrounding the film caused Zack Snyder’s rejection of the project and the entry of Joss Whedon. The director’s change of location led to repeated filming, during which Whedon was forced to remove the mustache from Henry’s face using computer graphics.
This removal alone cost Warner Bros. a staggering $24 million. According to Fandomwire, $24 million is actually more than the $22.5 that Rock charged for a role in “Black Adam.” Henry did not agree to shave off his mustache, because at that time he was filming Mission Impossible: Consequences, and in the film he wore a beard and mustache.
The moustache has become memorable since then
Justice League 2017 is remembered for several reasons, one of which is the poor removal of the mustache by computer graphics. As soon as the fans saw this scene on the big screens, they laughed uncontrollably. Even Ryan Reynolds used it in a hilarious parody for Aviation Gin. As amazing as it may sound, Cavill’s mustache in the film inspired him to donate to charity for the film “Mission Impossible: Consequences”.
