A tiny kitten is lucky to be alive after apparently being thrown from a moving car onto a busy road.
The animal, thought to be just a few weeks old, was spotted in the middle of a very busy road at Johnston in Pembrokeshire.
The passer-by was shocked to see the young cat not moving, despite being caught in the glare of headlights. When they looked further they found it had been injured.
It was first taken to a local vets, and then to Greenacres Animal Rescue in Talbenny, Haverfordwest .
Experts there believe the cat – now named Solomon – may have been thrown out of a moving car, due to his injuries.
Mikey Lawlor, centre manager at the rescue centre, said Solomon was probably eight or nine weeks old when he was brought in last Friday.
He said: “He had this injury to his face. It’s been cleaned up since then, but he had a bit of skin attached to his face.
“We don’t know for sure, but his injury does seem to suggest he has landed and scuffed his face, because the skin was taken off.”

He said the injured cat, who also has scuffs to his feet, is now on painkillers and antibiotics. His food is being mashed up to help him eat.
But he’s believed to have come from a home, as he’s extremely tame. A wild mother cat wouldn’t teach their offspring to venture so close to a road.
Mr Lawlor said that if the cat had been thrown it would be “horrendous.”
He said that a kitten so young, especially if it was a domestic kitten, wouldn’t have the skills to survive in the open, let alone on a busy road.
But he added that there was no need for anyone to dump a cat on a busy road.
Cats Protection had a scheme where they helped with the costs of neutering cats, and there were many places, including Greenacres, which would take in unwanted animals.
But the thought that Solomon had been so cruelly treated led to strong comments on Facebook.
Tracy Hazelden said: “Why would anyone do this to a little kitten? It makes me so sad. I hate people sometimes.
“Hoping he makes a quick recovery and gets the most wonderful forever home.”
