Man Utd and Liverpool rejected the chance to sign €30m star after becoming "irritated" by his agent

Manchester United and Liverpool rejected the chance to sign Premier League star Leandro Trossard due to the Brighton winger’s agent, according to reports.

Trossard joined the Seagulls in the summer of 2019 and has become one of the most successful signings of their current spell in the top flight of English football.

He has scored 25 goals in 116 Premier League appearances at the Amex Stadium. This term, he has found the net on seven occasions in 16 games, making him Brighton’s top scorer.

That form has attracted the interest of Tottenham, who are have genuine interest in his services, as per talkSPORT’s Alex Crook.

He says that Spurs are monitoring the Belgium international, whose contract expires in the summer of 2024. It is also claimed that Arsenal are keeping tabs on the 28-year-old’s situation.

But two other major Premier League clubs have reportedly already considered a move, before electing to turn it down.

Man Utd, Liverpool rejected Trossard move

According to CBS Sports transfer journalist Ben Jacobs, Trossard’s agent has been offering the winger to clubs ahead of a potential January move.

In fact, Jacobs claims that no fewer than five clubs were offered Trossard’s services – something which is said to have ‘irritated’ both United and Liverpool.

He told the Last Word On Spurs podcast: “The first thing to say with Trossard is that he wants a move away. No specific preference, and his agent has been working extremely hard to fuel interest.

“He went to Tottenham, he went to Chelsea, he went to Liverpool, he went to Manchester United and he went to Newcastle United.

“Liverpool and Manchester United dismissed it, even, as I understand it, got a little bit irritated by how much on the agent’s side was being leaked about interest in his client.”

The Belgian international, therefore, will surely be able to rule out a move to Old Trafford or Anfield – but it appears that he could well be joining another club in January.

Liverpool plotting move to sign former Man Utd man as Klopp looks to solve key dilemma

Liverpool are interested in completing a move for former Manchester United goalkeeper Ron-Robert Zieler in January, according to new reports.

The Reds currently have four senior goalkeepers on their books, with Alisson, Caiomhin Kelleher, Adrian and Harvey Davies all registered at Anfield.

Alisson has been Liverpool’s undisputed number one since joining the club in 2018. Meanwhile, Adrian was the preferred goalkeeper for cup games after his arrival in 2019.

But he was eventually overtaken by Kelleher, who has starred for the Reds when given the opportunity. He helped Liverpool to win the Carabao Cup by defeating Chelsea in a penalty shootout last season.

However, there is a major issue on the horizon for Jurgen Klopp when it comes to his goalkeeping department. Adrian is out of contract at the end of the season and Kelleher, who is now 24 years of age, may see the summer as the opportunity to find regular first team football.

That is believed to have led Liverpool to scour the market for another shot-stopper – and they may have found the perfect option.

Liverpool keen on ex-Man Utd goalkeeper

According to German outlet Bild, the Reds are interested in signing Zieler, who is currently playing for Bundesliga 2 side Hannover 96.

The 33-year-old has spent most of his career with the German outfit, this his third spell at the club.

He also spent two seasons with Stuttgart in the Bundesliga between 2017 and 2019. Prior to that, he had an unsuccessful campaign at Premier League holders Leicester as backup to Kasper Schmeichel.

But some English football fans may better remember him for his days at Manchester United, who he signed for in 2005 as a 16-year-old.

Zieler never made a competitive appearance for the Red Devils, but did sign professional terms and regularly featured for the U21 side.

After initially reporting Liverpool’s interest in the goalkeeper in November, Bild now claim Klopp has been given the green light to sign his compatriot due to the player’s annoyance that he has not been offered a new deal by his current club.

One of the reasons given for the Reds’ focus on Zieler is because of his United spell. As he joined the club at 16, and played there for five years, the German is considered as a home-grown player in English football.

He has also made over 350 appearances in Germany, making him perhaps the ideal candidate to come in to the Liverpool squad as a fresh goalkeeping option.
