ARSENAL SET TO SNUB £66M STRIKER WHO THINKS HE’S AS GOOD AS HAALAND – ROMANO

Arsenal will not be going back to sign Dusan Vlahovic in January.

At least, that is what Fabrizio Romano has said.

The Gunners are linked with Vlahovic following an injury to Gabriel Jesus, who is sidelined until March.

Eddie Nketiah has shown promising signs that he can fill the void left by Jesus but, then again, it’s only been three games.

It was reported last week that Arsenal were in constant contact [Calciomercato] regarding a swoop for Vlahovic.

This is somebody who Mikel Arteta tried to sign last January but he wound up joining Juventus in a £66 million transfer [Sky Sports].

But with the Italian outfit in dissaray now, a departure has been mooted.

But will Arsenal sign Vlahovic? Not according to Romano, who claims that the North Londoners are unhappy with how negotiations went with the Serbia international 12 months ago.

He told Give Me Sport: “Dusan Vlahovic is not a player Arsenal are discussing internally or with Juventus. Arsenal were not happy with the negotiations for Vlahovic one year ago. The player was not convinced – he only wanted to join Juventus.”

Romano is very often correct about transfer-related matters, but this seems illogical.

Nobody can deny that Vlahovic is a wonderful talent and if Arteta wanted him last January, then logically we can assume that the Spanish manager knows all about his qualities.

So would Arteta now, 12 months later, not want the same player just because of how negotiations went last time around?

This is a business decision and surely the Arsenal manager, nor Edu, would allow personal feelings to affect this.

Vlahovic, at 22, has a frightening future in football.

Even he claimed himself in 2021 that there was nothing in it between him and Erling Haaland, intimating that he feels he is just as lethal as the Manchester City marksman [Football London].

The former Fiorentina marksman is brilliant and if he’s available, Arsenal should be going for this.
