Hollywood stars Scarlett Johansson and Chris Evans’ saga have always been visible in the MCU but the secret behind is that their off-screen friendship makes their roles more special.
The duo is better known for their roles as Black Widow and Steve Rogers respectively in the MCU however their friendship existed way more before that.
The duo have known each other for over 10 years and met at the time of teen heist comedy The Perfect Score in 2004. After that, they were seen working together on six films, including the four, they did in the MCU. Not only that, Johansson once saved Evans’ acting career by giving him great advice as a bestie and it worked!
BFF Scarlett Johansson Came To Help Chris Evans In His Acting Career
Johansson and Evans had a great start but didn’t work together again until 2007’s The Nanny Diaries as both were busy during that time. Chris Evans got his first comic book superhero role as Johnny Storm, aka the Human Torch, in Fantastic Four which didn’t go well getting poor reviews. This affected him quite a bit when her BFF Scarlett Johansson came to help.
When the MCU came for both, Johansson was the first to enter the MCU with her role as Black Widow who debuted in 2010’s Iron Man 2. The actress was highly praised for her performance and made her place in the fans’ hearts.
When MCU reached out to cast Evans for Steve Rogers aka Captain America for The First Avenger, the actor, however, wanted to join another Marvel franchise, one of the reasons behind that was Fantastic Four which was universally panned. This is where Johansson convinced Evans to take up the role of Captain America. She told Variety, “I talked to him a little about it because I had already signed on to do Iron Man. Of course, the pressure wasn’t on my shoulders like it was on Chris’. I was playing a character that Marvel was invested in, but we didn’t know if the audience was going to be totally behind the Widow at that point. It was like I was dipping my toe in. He was taking the full brunt of the production on his shoulders. It can feel like a gilded cage at times.”
Johansson Predicting Future Career Goals For Chris Evans
The duo has known each other for so long that it wouldn’t be hard to predict what they might do in the future. In 2015, Johansson answered a question on whether the actor would be great in a movie musical. She answered, “He’s perfect to do a musical because he’s so masculine and it’s very rare.”
Then she added while referring to all the male co-stars in the Avengers movie stating, “Male actors are very sensitive, so I don’t feel like it gets to machismo. Everybody on the set, if you sing the opening line to Carousel, it will be followed by like five other actors singing in tandem.”
The BFFs are working together on a new film, Project Artemis which was acquired by Apple while the Black Widow star is also currently working with Apple and A24 on the sci-fi drama film Bride.
