A clever detail about both Wednesday and Bianca have shows that Bianca was always meant to be a misdirect and that she was never the villain.

Wednesday did an excellent job of creating potential villains, but none was as obvious as Bianca. By pitting Bianca and Wednesday against one another the show expertly set her up as the true antagonist, though a subtle parallel between the two confirmed Bianca was never the real villain. Wednesday relied on Bianca’s ability to manipulate her classmates with her siren powers to make her a prime suspect.

This suspicion came to a head with the revelation that Xavier broke up with Bianca because he thought she was using her powers to control him and that he didn’t trust her. With Wednesday having so many redirects in terms of who the real killer was in Wednesday season 1, it felt like a confirmation that Bianca was behind the Hyde attacks. Because the Hyde needed a master, Bianca with her siren powers made her a perfect fit for controlling the killings. However, this was another misdirect to distract from the actual monster and his master, Tyler and Ms. Thornhill.

Bianca’s Issues With Her Mother Proved She Was Never A Villain In Wednesday

During parent’s weekend in episode 5, Bianca reveals more of her character, especially when it comes to her relationship with her mother. Bianca sees her mom as a con artist who uses her siren powers to cheat people out of their money. Bianca’s attitude towards her mother’s business and obvious disdain for how she uses her powers on innocent people prove that she was never the villain in Wednesday, but was just misunderstood, as many of the Nevermore students were.

By having both Bianca and Wednesday desiring not to become like their mothers, it made them more alike than they realized. Wednesday didn’t want to be like Morticia and was always adamant about it, and Bianca had the same desire to not follow in her mother’s footsteps, but she was much more reserved about her reasons why. This parallel made a connection to audiences between Wednesday and Bianca. Because Wednesday had this attribute, Bianca having it made her more trustworthy because she and Wednesday were alike.

Will Wednesday & Bianca Become Actual Friends In Season 2?

Hopefully, Netflix will confirm that Wednesday will have a second season soon, and it would be nice to see Bianca and Wednesday become close. They became frenemies by the end of season 1, with Bianca helping Wednesday capture Tyler, and while they don’t seem like friends yet, they both have a level of respect for one another, which could lead to a cool team-up in Wednesday season 2 and beyond. A Bianca redemption arc seems like a good idea and would round out the sharp edges of her character.

Whether the show intended to use Bianca as a red herring for the real villain or not, Wednesday successfully created a dynamic character, who has the potential to be a great ally to Wednesday. Her relationship with her mother paralleling Wednesday’s and Morticia’s was a brilliant way to show Bianca’s true intentions. Hopefully, in Wednesday season 2, audiences will get to see the development of Wednesday and Bianca’s relationship further.
