SCARLETT Johansson has slammed claims she auditioned to be Tom Cruise’s girlfriend.
The 33-year-old branded the reports “demeaning” yesterday, after a former Scientologist suggested the actress was on an alleged list of women lined-up to date Tom.
In a statement to The Hollywood Reporter, Scarlett said: “The very idea of any person auditioning to be in a relationship is so demeaning.
“I refuse for anyone to spread the idea that I lack the integrity to choose my own relationships.
“Only a man aka Brendan Tighe would come up with a crazy story like that.”
Earlier this week, during an interview on Megyn Kelly Today, Brendan Tighe claimed he saw reports that various women auditioned to be in a relationship with the actor following the breakdown of his marriage to Nicole Kidman.
He claimed he received reports about women who were auditioning to be his girlfriend, saying: “In Scientology terminology, his “second dynamic” — a spouse or marital partner or sexual partner or anything like that.”
Brendan, who says his role was to help Cruise cross the road safely, went on to claim the only name he knew was Scarlett, adding: “It was right there in the report. It didn’t go well.”
The Church Of Scientology has also issued a statement on the topic.
Spokesperson Karin Pouw said: “Brendan Tighe was a Church of Scientology Flag Service Organization security guard/night watchman from 2002 to 2009.”
“The ‘access’ he boasts of having was largely limited to viewing security cameras from a guard booth.
“He was removed from that position for dereliction of duty.”
