City’s players were joined by friends and family in the city centre to celebrate their fifth Premier League title win in six seasons.
Manchester City’s players hit the town on Sunday night after lifting the Premier League title.
City’s status as champions was confirmed on Saturday as Arsenal’s end-of-season capitulation continued with a loss to Nottingham Forest, but they had to wait another day to get their hands on the trophy after the home game against Chelsea.
The Gunners’ defeat was the cue for Pep Guardiola to ring the changes against Chelsea. Nine in total were made including first Premier League starts for the club for Kalvin Phillips and Sergio Gomez.
Despite not needing to win, the Blues hit the front on 12 minutes thanks to Julian Alvarez’s calm finish underneath Kepa Arrizabalaga. The game fell into a contest reminiscent of a pre-season encounter as neither side looked too determined to add to the scoreline.
This being said, Conor Gallagher would rattle the frame of the goal just before the break and Kalvin Phillips would strike the same woodwork ten minutes into the second half. The full-time whistle sparked jubilant scenes at the Etihad as fans invaded the pitch before the trophy ceremony.
City could have further celebrations to come with a historic treble still up for grabs. On June 3, the Blues travel to Wembley to face Manchester United in the FA Cup final before flying to Istanbul a week later for the Champions League final vs Inter Milan.
But for now, the City squad can celebrate, and they did so in style on Sunday night as they partied the night away along with friends and family at Manchester’s Latin American restaurant and nightclub MNKY HSE.
The stars were also joined by members of Stockport band Blossoms, with Tom Ogden and Joe Donovan both in attendance.
