The midfielder was desperate to leave the club in the January transfer window, having fallen back into a bit-part role at Old Trafford after returning from his stunning West Ham loan, but had his departure blocked at the final stages.
There have also been a bit of a war of words between him and his manager, after Lingard refuted interim boss Ralf Rangnick’s claims that he asked the club for time off.
Speaking in early February, Rangnick said that Lingard asked him and Man United for a ‘couple of days off to clear his mind’.
Around 24 hours later, though, the 29-year-old said on Twitter: “The club advised me to have time off due to personal reasons! But my headspace is clear and I’ll always be professional when called upon and give 100 per cent”.
Since then he has only featured twice for Rangnick, both as substitute appearances, in which he only completed 18 minutes of football.
However, from this post on Instagram, it appears Lingard is fitter than ever as he starts planning for the next stage of his career.

Lingard is out of contract at Old Trafford at the end of the season, when he will be free to join his next club for nothing.
However, he has been given a chance to show what he can do and will hope to make a major impact, with Rangnick naming the England international in his starting line-up for Sunday’s clash against Leeds.
It’s Lingard’s first Premier League start of the season, with his suitors surely keeping an eye on his performance.
With the campaign entering its final months, Man United still have much to do to secure their status in next season’s Champions League.
The Red Devils are in need of three points at Elland Road after top four rivals Arsenal and Tottenham picked up victories on Saturday.
