Amazing video that was recently circulated online shows a baboon being seen with a leopard pup.
It’s not uncommon for baboons and leopards to live together and occasionally cross paths in Sᴏᴜᴛʜ Aғʀɪᴄᴀ’s Pilanesberg Private Game Reserve, but it’s exceptional to witness soᴍᴇᴛʜing like this.
44-year-old Paul Wood who took the video said that they saw a large troop of baboons when they were enjoying the spectacle. And a young male baboon was clutching a small leopard cub under his belly with arm.
The lion cub piqued the baboon’s curiosity, and he was determined to take it with him. Paul Wood said that they could see him grooming the cub as he sat quietly next to it, periodically looking down to make sure it was okay. Even though he was clumsy, he was quite kind with it and didn’t seem to be trying to ʜᴜʀᴛ it in any way.
The baboon lagged behind the rest of the troop by a fair distance. He sat for a time with the cub, then picked it up with one arm and moved a bit further down the road as the gap between him and the rest of the troop grew too wide, although he was still keeping up with them. He eventually rejoined the others after following the remainder of the unit off the road and into the tall ɢʀᴀss. The baboon swiftly went out of sight after crossing the road, disappearing over a short slope and down an embankment.
Let’s watch this moment in the video below:
