CHELSEA fans have called for Raheem Sterling to make the “top five in this year’s Ballon d’Or” after stumbling across a shocking stat.
That’s as the England ace begins to turn around his horror debut season.
Big things were expected of the clinical forward, who won four Premier League titles while scoring 131 goals for City.
But Sterling’s first term at Stamford Bridge has not gone to plan.
The winger has been accused of vanishing in numerous matches big and small.
And he has just four league goals to show for his efforts under Thomas Tuchel, Graham Potter and Frank Lampard.
However, Sterling is starting to become a bit of an assist master for his new side.
He came off the bench in yesterday’s 3-1 win at Bournemouth and proceeded to tee up fellow sub Joao Felix for Chelsea’s third.
It means Sterling has four assists for the Blues this term, more than any other player.
And fans reckon he’s starting to finally come good as a new dawn – potentially under Mauricio Pochettino – approaches.
One said: “Surely that deserves a top 5 Ballon d’Or nomination.”
Another declared: “The grief he’s been catching is unfair considering he’s our biggest contributor for goals.”
One noted: “Not bad for our ‘worst signing ever’.”
Another added: “Great assist from Sterling, we missed those brave runs from him.”
