Daily Star Sport takes a look back at David Beckham’s most iconic haircuts as the England legend turns 48 – including one which sparked the fury of Sir Alex Ferguson at Man Utd
There is no questioning David Beckham’s clout in the football world and beyond.
Everyone wanted to be him, your favourite footballers grew up idolising him and your partner probably fancied him. From his fashion sense to his trademark curling free-kicks, Beckham’s aura made him a household name across the globe.
The Manchester United legend was daring in every sense of the word. He modelled before it was cool for footballers to do so, married a pop star and played in Madrid, Milan, Los Angeles and Paris before calling time on his career in 2013.
There was also the little fact that he was simply an outstanding footballer, delivering iconic moments throughout his career such as the famous last-minute free-kick against Greece to take England to the World Cup.
And he did it all while sporting an array of sharp and equally outrageous haircuts. Some of them have undeniably stood the test of time better than others – all of them remain iconic.
To celebrate the former England skipper turning 48, Daily Star Sport brings you a compiled list of his 13 most outstanding haircuts throughout his career and afterwards.
Middle-parting
The first look associated with David Beckham was this classic ’90s parting. Dashing with a hint of daring.
Boyband tribute
Becks stepped it up several notches in 1998 after meeting pop star Victoria Adams. It was only fitting that he mirrored her singing career with a boyband trim.
Mohawk
One of his most iconic hairstyles to kick off the new millennium.
Shaved mohawk
Dubbed by the man himself as his most daring haircut ever. “It lasted until the gaffer (Sir Alex Ferguson) saw it and then it had to go – he made me shave it in the changing room,” the No7 recalled. It was sheered ahead of the Community Shield clash with Chelsea in 2000.
Bald eagle
And here is the consequence of Fergie’s punishment – the famous bald look of 2002
Blonde highlights
We can’t think of too many more players that would attempt this, let alone pull it off.
Long with hairband
2003 may have marked the end of his time at Man Utd, but it was the beginning of long-hair era Becks.
Cornrows
A glass of rose in the south of France was all it took for the winger to be persuaded into getting cornrows. Pictures of Beckham donning his controversial hairstyle while seated next to Nelson Mandela during a trip to South Africa are permanently etched into our memory.
Blonde mini-ponytail
Joining Real Madrid in 2003 as the latest Galactico called for a new magnificent hair-do. Ethereal.
Mullet
Not his best.
Bleached blonde
At this stage in his career at LA Galaxy, Beckham had earned the right to go for any look he wanted.
Pompadour
His later years at Paris Saint-Germain saw the Englishman sport a more grizzled look, combining a big quiff with a beard.
Clean under-cut
The dad-of-four has donned several variations of this clean looking under-cut since hanging up his boots.
