Reds idol enjoys quality family time before he begins pre-season training coaching at the Anfield academy
STEVEN GERRARD shows he has lost none of his physique since retirement as he relaxes on a family holiday in Ibiza.
Gerrard retired from professional football last November at the end of a glittering 18-year career at Liverpool and LA Galaxy.
But there are no signs his lack of day-to-day football have done any damage to his fitness as he took to the beach on the Spanish isle with wife Alex and their four children.
Despite being able to enjoy life more in terms of eating and drinking since hanging up his boots, the 37-year-old proudly displayed his six-pack as he posed for a pic with his three daughters.
He also shared a snap of himself with two-month old son Lio in a quiet moment.
Wife Alex, 34, looked the picture of health as she relaxed in the Ibiza sunshine with the rest of the family.
Gerrard is enjoying his final break of the summer before he reports back for duty in his role working with the academy at Liverpool.
The former England midfielder has spoken openly of his desire to move into management but chose to start learning at the bottom rather than taking a high-profile job as number one.
He rejected other offers to walk straight into a first team job with other professional clubs in favour of continuing his education at a lower level.
Gerrard said: “It is a place where I can go and make many, many mistakes because that is what I have been told I am going to do and I probably will do that.
“Every manager and coach I have spoken to has said I will make loads of mistakes, that your first job is better to be away from the cameras.
“But you still get that little bit of exposure with the U18s – LFC TV, do interviews with the local paper. I think it is a great age and a good idea to start there.
“The other offers I got it would have been learning on the job in at the deep end and I probably wasn’t ready for those jobs.
“I might have been but I didn’t want to take any risks, especially when there is no timescale or plan of where I want to be in a certain time. The 18s made sense.”
