Blackpink recently went on comedian James Corden‘s popular series, Carpool Karaoke.
The episode was filled with hilarious moments, from Jisoo‘s sassy remark to Blackpink’s attempts to break multiple world records
And James Corden also talked about BLACKPINK’s career, asking BLACKPINK what it was like when all members were trainees.
James Corden: I really felt like I was in training camp then (while singing with BLACKPINK). I thought I was in competition with all of you. Talk to me about when you’re at [training] camp; what’s a typical day like?
Of course, K-Pop idols have to endure a lot of hard work and busy schedules to grow their skills as artists so they can be selected as members for a group’s debut. As BLACKPINK were YG Entertainment trainees, they had to follow an intensive schedule to achieve their dream of debut.
James Corden: What time do you start?
Lisa: We start at like 11 or 12.
Rosé: 11 A.M. So we’d wake up at like 9 to get ready…
And while James Corden joked that the late wakeup time was “better than [his] school” schedule, he hadn’t accounted for how late their intense practices go.
Rosé: And then we go at 11 A.M. And then we practice all through 2 A.M. We all come home at 2 A.M.
James Corden: Okay, that changes things.
Rosé: Yeah, even on weekends
Although trainees were given some breaks, they were rare, proving just how much determination trainees must have to follow their dreams.
Rosé: And we would get one day off every fortnight on a Sunday.
James Corden: I mean, this is an incredible amount of dedication for all of you:
And making BLACKPINK’s dedication to following this intense trainee schedule even more impressive, BLACKPINK revealed just how young they were when they became trainees.
Rosé was 16 when she moved from Australia to South Korea
And Lisa was 14 when she moved from Thailand to South Korea.
Jennie: She was a baby.
Lisa: I was [a] baby. And I [didn’t] even speak Korean
Rosé admitted that her friends in Australia didn’t exactly understand why she was moving to Korea, and Rosé assured them, “Just wait and see; I will show you.”
Of course, Blackpink have indeed “shown” the world how successful they have become.
