Patrick Beverley would like to return to Chicago next season to play with the Bulls.
On the latest episode of the “Pat Bev Podcast”, Chicago Bulls guard Patrick Beverley said he’d like to return to Chicago. Beverley signed with the Bulls on February 21 after being bought out by the Orlando Magic.
Though Beverley said he wanted to return to Chicago, he also said he’s looking to get paid. Now, I’ll be the first to tell you, I have no idea what kind of contract Beverley will get.
At this point in his career, I could see him joining a team on a veteran minimum. There are two major qualities Beverley brings to a game. The first is defense. Beverley is a willing defender who isn’t afraid of putting his body on the line. The second is his heart. Cliche, I know. Though, it’s true. Beverley is a natural-born leader and he lifts up his teammate’s spirits.
If I had to guess, Beverley will not be back in Chicago next season, unless he takes a veteran minimum contract. The Bulls do not have the cap room to pay him any more than that. Add that on top of the Bulls already being a guard-heavy team that doesn’t shoot threes.
Whatever happens, it was pretty cool to see a hometown kid get to put on a Chicago Bulls jersey. Though it wasn’t the end result that Beverley or Bulls fans wanted, his tenure here provided some fun.
