Darwin Nunez’s son and step-daughter showed off their new Liverpool No27 shirts after the Uruguayan forward
Nunez, who has signed a six-year deal on Merseyside, was accompanied by his girlfriend, Lorena Manas. The couple posted photos of her daughter Chloe (seven) and their son Darwin Jr – who was born in January – in their new jerseys.
Chloe’s name was emblazoned on her shirt, while Darwin Jr has “daddy” on the back of his. The heartwarming picture was captioned “our pride”. Chloe’s dad is Aleix Vidal, the former Barcelona and Spain defender, who currently plays for Espanyol.
Nunez will wear the No27 shirt at Liverpool following his big-money move. The 22-year-old, who was also linked with Manchester United, is one of the most prolific strikers in Europe – scoring 34 goals and providing four assists in 41 appearances last season.
Lorena posted an emotional message after giving birth to Darwin Jr. “I would like you to fall many times and always get up one more time, that would mean that you live intensely and without fear,” she wrote, accompanied by a picture of the family-of-four.
“I would like you to be kind to the one who is in a disadvantaged situation and harsh with the one who obstructs and abuses. May you have the courage to make your own decisions and let no one set the course for you.
“That you seek solutions to problems and not excuses. Don’t be afraid of difficulties. I would like you to be like my mother because she is the best person I know and because she always finds a way to get ahead of her, even if it rains stones.”
Nunez, who is nearly 10 years younger than Lorena, admitted he dedicates all his goals to his family after signing for Benfica in the summer of 2020. Liverpool’s new signing refers to his loved ones as his “shelter” and started dating Lorena in 2020.
Speaking at his Liverpool unveiling, Nunez said: “I’m really happy and delighted to be here at Liverpool. It’s a massive club. I’d like to thank my partner and my parents and my son, who is a real source of pride for me.
“They’ve been really important to me in the stages in my career. I’m really proud of them, and for the work we do, me and my partner, as a team and I’m grateful to her that I’m here. It’s a pleasure to be here in Liverpool and I’m very happy to be a part of this great club.
“As I say, I’ve watched quite a lot and it’s a very big club and I hope I can give everything that I’ve got in order to help the team… I came here to Liverpool to win trophies and titles. I want to win a lot of trophies at Liverpool.”
