Manchester United’s Carrington training ground was at the centre of disruption on Wednesday morning after a car rolled down a bank.
Manchester United’s players were facing potential delays getting into the club’s Carrington training ground this morning following a huge response from the emergency services after a car rolled down a bank. The incident, which saw a silver vehicle become lodged on its side, prompted panic and was allegedly described as a “car hanging off a cliff” during a 999 call.
Nonetheless, a series of emergency vehicles which included five police cars, four fire engines and one ambulance rushed to the scene – congesting the entrance to the training ground.
Upon arrival, it soon became clear that the situation had been slightly over-exaggerated, even though the car still needed to be attended to and hauled from the ditch.
The bizarre sequence of events caused delays and complications for those attempting to enter the premises ahead of Erik ten Hag’s pre-Sevilla Europa League press conference.
Sky Sports reporter Ben Ransom was at the scene and relayed exactly what happened during a live broadcast, documenting the initial panic amongst the emergency services.

He said: “I’ve got to show you the entrance to Carrington where we’ll be talking to Erik ten Hag this lunchtime.
“The scene here is chaos, you will have noticed the fire engine over my shoulder here and that’s because if you swing around, a car has ended up in a ditch here.
“We’ve got quite a substantial response, I think I’ve counted five police cars, an ambulance and four fire engines.
“I think the call initially went in to the police was that there was a car teetering on the edge of a cliff.
“There are no cliffs here, that was the old training ground, this is Carrington so mercifully everyone is okay.
“But there entrance to Carrington is blocked this morning so the players might have to wait a bit before they get into training.”
United are back in action on Thursday when they host serial Europa League winners Sevilla in the quarter-finals of the competition at Old Trafford.
The La Liga outfit have proven to be a bogey side for United in recent times after knocking United out of the Champions League in the 2017/18 season under Jose Mourinho.
The Red Devils are fresh off the back of two successive home victories against Brentford and Everton after going down 2-0 at Newcastle on April 2.
Yet if United are to beat Sevilla, they will have to do it without top goalscorer Marcus Rashford who will be missing with a muscle injury.
The forward was subbed off in the 80th minute of United’s 2-0 Premier League win over Everton on Saturday after picking up the problem.
There is quiet confidence amongst the club’s medical staff that he will be fit for the final matches of the season, however.
