Wayne Rooney’s son Kai Rooney has excited many Manchester United fans by mirroring one of his dad’s trademark moves.
Manchester United fans are overflowing with excitement in Kai Rooney’s Instagram comments after noticing the 13-year-old mirroring his father’s trademark ball control. Wayne Rooney forged his name into history as one of United’s greatest-ever players, and Kai dreams of following in his footsteps in the club’s academy.
Rooney spent 13 years at Old Trafford, lifting 16 trophies, including five Premier League titles and a Champions League.
He scored 253 goals, overtaking Sir Bobby Charlton as the club’s record goalscorer, and is the Red Devils’ best-ever in the eyes of many supporters.
After two years as Derby County manager, Rooney left Pride Park for the MLS in 2022, becoming DC United boss.
But while his dad continues his coaching career, Kai is a part of United’s U13 set-up and is working hard to emulate his success.
And fans are raving after Kai posted a selection of images of a recent game on his Instagram, with one showcasing him mirroring Rooney’s trademark chest control.

Kai lifted the U13 National Cup North earlier this year and has previously told the Mirror that his goal is to represent the United senior team.
“That’s where I see myself, but I’ve got to make it happen with hard work and everything behind the scenes.
“I know it’s a bit boring, but probably my dad [is my biggest inspiration] as he’s helped me through some of the hard times and taught me a lot about the game.
“Even just being in the car listening to him as a manager talking to all the players.”
