Tiny ᴛᴡɪɴꜱ Zoe and Olivia grew up together in the ᴡᴏᴍʙ for 29 weeks prior to becoming on display in public. Despite never having to be apart before, they were made to spend a month apart to prevent one twin from ᴀᴄᴄɪᴅᴇɴᴛly suffocating the other.
The awful moment when Zoe reached out to hug her sister was all the more heartbreaking because it took doctors 27 days to conclude that the ᴛᴡɪɴꜱ were strong enough to be reunited.
Ann, 29, from Aᴜsᴛʀᴀʟɪᴀ stated, “We had been waiting so long for the girls to meet that when the day finally came, we couldn’t believe it. After exactly 27 days, our first ᴛᴡɪɴꜱ’ embrace exceeded our expectations.
Once Olivia was on top of me, Zoe turned to face Olivia and reached out her left arm to embrace her. It was a moment I’ll never forget as tears began to fill up in my eyes.
Mother AnnLe’s pregnancy was high-ʀɪsᴋ because both of her precious ʙᴀʙʏ girls shared the same amniotic sac. In a multiple pregnancy known as unilateral monoamniotc ᴛᴡɪɴꜱ, there is only a 50% chance that the ᴛᴡɪɴꜱ will live past 26 weeks.
Beginning at 10 weeks of pregnancy, Ann, from Melbourne, Aᴜsᴛʀᴀʟɪᴀ, was required to have an ultrasound every two weeks in order to monitor the growth of the girls.
Ann reported that Olivia, who was crying, was taken out of there promptly. When the doctor arrived, Zoe was crouching, so it took some time for her to be released. She made no sounds or move, which made us very worried. Both girls were swiftly taken to the pediatric ward by midwives for examination.
Ann finally got to enjoy the much awaited twin cuddles after only one short month. An Instagram user who was proud of her mother posted a stunning moment. By the middle of April, Ann now wants to have her daughters back home.
She continued, “It was very difficult for my husband and me, but now that they had been in the hospital for over a month, their chances of survival are better than 95%.”
