The internet is not letting the Hailey Bieber versus Selena Gomez discourse rest.

This week, supporters of the 30-year-old singer and actress dug up old tweets from Hailey, 26, dating back more than ten years. In the tweets, she gushed over the then-romance between Selena and Hailey’s now-husband Justin Bieber.

One tweet, posted in May 2011, read, ‘I’m for sure 100% team #Jelena,’ while another said, ‘I don’t care what anyone says but Justin Bieber and Selena Gomez together is the definition of a teenage dream!’

Some Selena fans even credited the RARE Beauty founder — who opened up about having an assistant post for her on social media — for not using the old internet fodder against Hailey.

One person wrote on Twitter, ‘Selena [is] better than me because there’s [so much] embarrassing sh*t of Hailey online that she could use against her.’

Someone else wrote, ‘Selena [is] a better person than me [because] I would’ve ended Hailey with this,’ with a screenshot of two ‘Jelena’ tweets from 2011.

It comes after Selena announced she is taking a break from social media after defending her ‘best friend’ Taylor Swift when old footage was unearthed of her being mocked by Hailey.

In the old clip, Method Man, who used to co-host the show Drop The Mic with Bieber, teased a ‘rap battle full of the meanest lyrics about a celebrity since Taylor Swift’s last album,’ prompting Hailey to mime making herself vomit.

Selena then wrote in a comment under the post, ‘Sorry, my best friend is and continues to be one of the best in the game.’

The most followed woman on Instagram took to TikTok Live last Thursday to say she is taking a sabbatical from the internet after receiving backlash for the perceived dig.

She said that she won’t apologize for being who she is and is ‘happy to be surrounded by the best friends and fans’ before making her declaration.

Selena said: ‘I’m gonna be taking a second from social media cause this is a little silly and I’m 30. I’m too old for this.

‘But I love you guys so much and I will see you guys sooner than later. I’m just going to have to take a break from everything.’

Following her Live, Selena deactivated her TikTok account. However, her Instagram account remains active.

At one point, Kylie Jenner was even dragged into the conversation, as fans accused the billionaire of mocking Selena.

It came after Gomez appeared online to share that she had over-laminated her eyebrows.

Kylie uploaded a selfie later in the day and wrote, ‘This was an accident???’ with the placement of the text set over her eyebrows.

The Kylie Cosmetics mogul denied being shady towards Gomez and went as far as to shoot down any talk of a feud between herself and the actress.

In a comment underneath a TikTok clip by @devotedly.yours on Wednesday, the mother of two, 25, began by writing, ‘this is reaching. no shade towards selena ever and i didn’t see her eyebrow posts!’

She went on to add ‘u guys are making something out of nothing’ in the post.

The Keeping Up With The Kardashians alum ended the comment by declaring ‘this is silly.’

Gomez then chimed in, ‘Agreed @kyliejenner. It’s all unnecessary. I’m a fan of Kylie!’

Selena had an on-off romance with Justin Bieber, who went on to marry Hailey in 2018.

Although Selena fans have relentlessly trolled Hailey on social media, the two women have denied that there is any bad blood between them.

Making the case: Some people thought Jenner ridiculed Gomez’s eyebrows after she shared videos and photos of her own brows that same day, via Instagram Stories, where she said she ‘ accidentally laminated [her] eyebrows too much’; then  about three hours later, the reality star posted a selfie of herself and wrote, ‘this was an accident?’

They even went viral last October when they cuddled up to one another for photos snapped by Tyrell Hampton at the Academy Museum gala in Los Angeles.

In a subsequent interview with Vulture, Selena said the snaps with Hailey were ‘not a big deal’ and added: ‘It’s not even a thing.’

Hailey had already previously indicated on the Call Her Daddy podcast that her equation with Selena was ‘all respect’ – and during the same interview she staunchly denied that Justin had cheated on Selena with her.

Hailey has received blowback from diehard Selena fans throughout her relationship with Justin.
