Without Nunez, Liverpool feels ’empty’

Many people think that Darwin Nunez is a “bomb” of Liverpool. But when he was absent, The Kop saw all the value of this striker.

In the trip to Crystal Palace’s field in the 25th round of the Premier League yesterday morning, although it was more appreciated, Liverpool only got 1 disappointing point. Juergen Klopp’s army created up to 0.9 expected wins but could not once put the ball into the opponent’s net.

This is a match where the German strategist was unable to use Darwin Nunez and Joe Gomez. Gomez suffered a hamstring injury during the 2-5 loss to Real Madrid in midweek. Meanwhile, Nunez suffered the effects of a shoulder injury from the clash with Newcastle a week ago.

The Uruguayan striker suppressed the pain to start against Real and also scored the opening goal with a beautiful heel strike. But then, he was substituted after 64 minutes. Coach Klopp did not dare to risk the injury of the Uruguayan striker.
This is already the fourth time Nunez has missed three separate injuries this season. In addition, he missed 3 more matches because of suspension.

Before the second leg against Palace, Klopp said of Nunez and Gomez: “Both are injured. Darwin had a shoulder problem during the match against Newcastle. Everything was fine in the match against Real Madrid but then he got another bump there. Hopefully he can be back in the middle of the week.”

After the game, Klopp added: “In moments like these, we honestly miss Nunez. Of course, that doesn’t mean Liverpool can’t live without him.”

“In the absence of Nunez, we still have Diogo Jota ready to go on an offensive mission. He’s a threat to Crystal Palace’s goal behind Salah and Gakpo. In case Salah and Gakpo drop back, he will come up in a position where he can score.”

Recently, Nunez is playing with an extremely impressive form. He has 2 goals and 1 assist in the last 3 appearances. Therefore, if participating in this match, Nunez can completely continue to shine and help Liverpool score goals.

Lost the opportunity to “revenge”
Nunez made a disastrous debut under a Liverpool shirt, when he received a direct red card in the match against Palace itself. When he was facing the opportunity to “revenge”, he was injured again and could not march to Selhurst Park to rematch Palace.
