British Emma Geairns, 34, has always dreamed of becoming a mother. But after a routine checkup when she was 25, she came to see motherhood as an almost impossible wish. During a gynecological procedure, her doctor warned her that her ᴄᴇʀᴠɪx and ᴜᴛᴇʀᴜs were positioned in a way that would make a natural pregnancy impossible. What she didn’t expect is that, nine years later, she would not only contradict what the doctor said, but she would give birth to three children in just one year.

“At the time of the ᴅɪᴀɢɴᴏsɪs, I took a step forward and decided to focus on my career, but when I met my husband, we decided that we wanted to try to get pregnant,” explained Emma in an interview with the Daily Mail.

It took more than a year of trying before the couple finally got the news that they were expecting their first child. Little Harlow was born in February 2020, and after that, the couple decided to stop using ᴄᴏɴᴛʀᴀᴄᴇᴘᴛɪᴠᴇ ᴍᴇᴛʜᴏᴅs. “After Harlow, we assumed it would take a long time to get pregnant again, especially after what the doctors told me. But it was literally the first time we had sᴇx after I gave birth, and I was pregnant again,” she recalled.

When she found out she was pregnant again for the second time, she didn’t think she could give birth to twins. She started ʙʟᴇᴇᴅɪɴɢ in the early stages of pregnancy, so it was assumed that she had ᴍɪsᴄᴀʀʀɪᴇᴅ. “I went for an examination to make sure everything was fine with me. Then they told me that I hadn’t miscarried at all and that the baby was alive. And not just one – even two!”

According to Emma, her husband, Jamie, 32, did not believe her when she broke the news that they would be the parents of twins. “Because of the ᴄᴏʀᴏɴᴀᴠɪʀᴜs, he wasn’t allowed into the office with me. I left crying, and he tried to comfort me, saying we could try again and stuff. When I said it was twins, he thought I was kidding,” she said.

The couple now claims that their family is large enough and that they do not want to have any more children. “It’s pretty crazy to have three kids under the age of two. It’s amazing, but really hard work. We’re so blessed that all three of them are healthy. I feel so lucky and grateful.”
