Kevin Durant was having yet another fantastic season when he suffered an injury. Despite being 34 years old, he finds himself in the MVP discussion after orchestrating a stunning comeback for the Brooklyn Nets.

That is quite impressive from someone in their 15th season in the NBA, especially when you consider he had that Achilles tear in 2019, but even Durant’s longevity pales in comparison to that of LeBron James. In his 20th season in the league, LeBron is averaging 30.2 PPG, 8.5 RPG, and 7.1 APG while shooting 50.7% from the field. Those are remarkable numbers for someone at this stage of their career and Durant was full of praise for his great rival on the ETCs podcast.

“A lot of people felt like Bron’s skills wasn’t equal to his athleticism but he hit nine 3s the other night. He’s adapted his game and is shooting a little bit more than when he did back in earlier in his career and he still got that youthful energy. He popping around everywhere, diving over the f****** front row, still taking on people, it’s inspiring to see.”

“As a competitor, it’s like, ‘Man, f*** that, I can do that s*** too.’ But then it’s like like, ‘Damn he’s in year 20, he’s 38 years old.’ He goes through so much, off the floor as just a man in general, but family you got so many responsibilities, still love the game, still getting up, playing back-to-backs and s***, still playing 40 minutes, it’s like man, salute to that”

LeBron has had to adapt as time has gone on and his willingness to work on different facets of his game is what has helped him continue to be a dominant force in the league. Durant also stated recently that LeBron is setting the bar for what an athlete wants to be and it is great to see just how much respect KD has for him.

Kevin Durant Spoke On What Has Gone Wrong With The Dunk Contest

Durant spoke on quite a few topics during this episode and one of them was the Slam Dunk Contest during All-Star weekend. At one point in time, it used to arguably be the highlight of the weekend, but interest in it has gone down quite a bit over the years.

KD stated that he thinks the stars need to come back for the dunk contest to regain its past glory and he is right

. We just don’t see the big names there anymore and KD wants the likes of Ja Morant and Zion Williamson to take part. There is no doubt that a lot of people would tune in if those two were involved but it doesn’t seem like they are interested.
