The white powder Robbie snorts in her new film Babylon is actually powdered ‘baby laxatives’ and she claims that the cast snorted so much fake coke that it ‘hurt’
Margot Robbie had to snort a “ridiculous” amount of white powder for her latest Hollywood movie.
The actress, 32, starred alongside Brad Pitt in new film Babylon which takes place in the wildest age of Hollywood.
Orgies and drug taking appeared to be the norm for Robbie’s party animal character Nellie LaRoy as she battled to become a star.
LaRoy ends up collapsing but all is well in her coke-fuelled state as she ends up wrestling a rattlesnake.
The actress even advised director Damien Chazelle to tone down the “ridiculous” quantity of cocaine on scene.
Robbie told NME: “I think the only note I gave Damien… obviously there’s a lot of drugs in this movie and I play a character who does tons of drugs.
“But he would have them rack up lines of coke that were just like the size of hot dogs.”
As is always the case on film shoots, real drugs were not used in the scenes.
The Hollywood superstar revealed that the fake drug was actually baby laxative, vitamin powder or icing sugar.
The cast snorted such vast quantities of the powder that it caused them pain, she added.
Robbie said: “It was either vitamin B powder or icing sugar, or baby laxative. Either way, it does hurt after a while.”
Her character Nellie LaRoy was even more wild in real life.
LaRoy bathed in champagne at swanky parties at a time when alcohol was banned in the US.
She also slept with co-stars and was the only actress signed to Paramount who refused to have a morality clause in her contract so she could have sex with whoever she wanted.
Robbie noted: “Nellie is an aspiring actress. She’s like a tornado and she’s not going to let anyone stand in her way… like I love her so much. But she’s so exhausting.”
Robbie was under the spotlight when she ad-libbed a snog with co-star Brad Pitt.
She added: “That wasn’t in the script, but I thought ‘When else am I gonna get the chance to kiss Brad Pitt?
“I’m just gonna go for it.’ A movie kiss is different to any other kiss.”
