Margot Robbie’s childhood friends hilariously revealed their nickname for her when they surprised her on the red carpet for the premiere of her new movie.
The 32-year-old is currently in her home country of Australia promoting Babylon, which she stars in opposite Brad Pitt.
And while on the red carpet of the premiere in Sydney, Margot was caught by surprise when her school friends shouting across to get her attention as she gave an interview.
Australian entertainment reporter Justin Hill was interviewing the former Neighbours star, saying to her: ‘Now I saw the other day that you said that you once tried to hire a nightclub.’
But Margot wasn’t listening, turning away from Justin to jump up and down, scream and wave when she heard a group of women call: ‘Hey maggot!’
She turned back to Justin to say: ‘I saw my school friends. We have been friends since we were four years old.’
Sharing the clip with his Instagram followers, Justin wrote: ‘Can’t believe I got to witness this pure moment when #MargotRobbie’s childhood mates walked past and yelled out to her as we were chatting tonight.’
The Sydney premiere of the movie was full of cute moments for the actress, who will star in the live action version of Barbie later this year, as Margot collapsed into giggles when she found herself on the other end of an interview with her younger brother Cameron.
She hugged her 27-year-old sibling enthusiastically and the pair seemed to relish the moment, with smiles all around.
Cameron was seen breaking into laughter as he casually tilted a microphone towards his sister, who appeared to be going along with the joke animatedly.
Margot’s brother also appeared in Australian soap Neighbours in 2021, but for now, he is still finding his feet as an actor and looking up to his big sis.
‘My sister and I liked to perform all the time, (including) skits at home,’ he once told The Gold Coast Bulletin. ‘When she started succeeding, I realised you can do this as a job.’
‘She is such a grounded, supportive and intelligent girl. There’s such a business side to this world … and she’s helping with (that).’
