Having left Manchester United under a cloud, it’s been claimed Cristiano Ronaldo wants to reunite and say a proper goodbye to his closest pals at his former club
Cristiano Ronaldo has reportedly invited four of his former Manchester United team-mates to watch him play in Saudi Arabia.
The 37-year-old never got to say a proper goodbye to the Red Devils following his bombshell interview with Piers Morgan, which resulted in his contract being mutually terminated, as he was at the World Cup with Portugal at the time.
He’s now settled into his new life in the Middle East with Al-Nassr – and he wants some of his pals from Old Trafford to come and visit him, according to The Sun.
They claim Ronaldo has been in touch with Harry Maguire, Bruno Fernandes, Casemiro and Raphael Varane, his closest friends in the United squad, to try and arrange a visit to Saudi for them to catch a game.
And he’s also said to have invited them for a summer holiday in his native Portugal, where he’s having a luxury home built on the outskirts of Lisbon.
A United insider said: “There are still a few lads here who have nothing but respect for Ronny and were sad how it all ended, because they never got to say a proper goodbye.
“He recently left the player WhatsApp groups but promised to keep in touch with a few and has invited them to his new place in Lisbon and to Saudi to watch him play.”
Ronaldo will hope he’s found some form by that point as he’s not got off to the best of starts at Nassr. His first game ended in a 1-0 league win, with Brazilian midfielder Anderson Talisca netting the winner.
But they were disappointingly dumped out of the Super Cup on Thursday (January 26) as they suffered a 3-1 defeat to Al-Ittihad, with Ronaldo yet to score for his new side.
