Fred Morrison’s 1957 Olds Super 88 was his “something missing” from an already impressive collection, a car he had been obsessed with since his teenage years.
He always remembered the perfect factory lines of a 1957 Oldsmobile coupe he was obsessed with as a teen. While at an outdoor event he met with Will Hudson of Hudson’s Rod & Customs, Tennessee, and the pair immediately hit it off while discussing his ideas for his next build. Without wasting time Fred began a search for a 1957 Olds Super 88 and not long after came across a low-mile original car that fit the bill.
Once Hudson’s received the Olds it was evaluated and stripped of its driveline and interior. Once the body was blasted clean the team at Hudson’s repaired any minor issues and metal finished it to perfection while setting the gaps and preparing it for paint.–
They then custom blended the earth-tone metallic shades and laid down the vibe with a twist, covering the central roof and decklid in a low-luster satin. To give the car even more brilliance Advanced Plating of Nashville re-chromed all the exterior parts while also polishing the stainless trim to complete the exterior.
To give the big-body plenty of street presence Fred worked with Nick Capobianco of Accurate Automotive & Performance in Hyde Park in selecting a Chevrolet Performance ZZ502ci big-block V-8.
Packed with performance goods, including a forged steel crank linked to matching steel rods capped with forged aluminum pistons, thump comes from a hydraulic roller stick with aluminum oval-port heads generating plenty of power. The remarkable engine cover/air cleaner was fabricated at Hudson’s. Shifts move through a Chevrolet Performance 4L85E trans to a custom ‘shaft.
This is one of the coolest Oldsmobile that has ever been built. Her name is “Christine”, and Hudson Crew…you Rocked this one!!!
