Alligators, unlike crocodiles, are not naturally hostile creatures, according to Roaring Earth. However, public perception portrays these reptiles as violent, bloodthirsty monsters, despite the fact that they are far less hazardous than saltwater or Nile crocodiles, which are more aggressive and bigger.
However, alligators have been known to attack humans and even each other. The internet has recently been buzzing with news of two big alligators battling each other on a golf course in South Carolina.
The snarling creatures fought for two hours at the Golf Club at Hilton Head Lakes in Hardeeville, while startled spectators looked on.
Matthew Proffitt, who was golfing with friends at the time, caught the creatures as they tried to overwhelm each other with their formidable teeth. He told Island Packet that the creatures were only a few feet away from him.
One of the creatures has been seen gnawing on the other alligator’s arm. That animal retaliates by biting the attacker’s head. The two remained in that posture for the whole of the brawl. Neither of them was willing to let the other go.
Mr Proffitt explained, “They would lay there for a few minutes, with their jaws locked on one other, and then try to roll or shake.” “The brawl lasted nearly two hours,” he said.
“Sudden death playoff on the 18 yesterday!” the club said on Facebook, describing the thrilling struggle. Keep your eyes peeled out there; there’s a lot of wildlife on the course!”
The film did not show how the battle concluded, but the animals must have shown incredible stamina to go the distance, since it lasted many hours.
Since it was posted, the video has been seen over 7.9 lakh times. It has also received 12,000’shares’ and hundreds of comments of admiration.
In the comments area, one user said, “It’s gator mating season, don’t get in the middle.” “I’m never going to golf again,” said another.
Mr Proffitt claimed it was his first close contact with an alligator, despite the fact that alligators are frequent in the region. He told the Island Packet, “We were very convinced they wouldn’t bother with us since they were locked in on each other.” “However, watching that was rather nerve-wracking.”
