Unquestionably one of the greatest players of all time, Stephen Curry is recognized as the greatest 3-point shooter to ever live. He has proven to be a top-tier superstar, and the Golden State Warriors dynasty was largely propelled by him.
Throughout his career, Stephen Curry has won four championships and one Finals MVP. If he manages to win this year, he’ll have five championships and two Finals MVPs, the same amount as Kobe Bryant. In the recent episode of the Fadeaway World podcast, Lee Tran and Divij Kulkarni debate whether Stephen Curry would be on the same level or surpass Kobe Bryant if he wins a championship and Finals MVP this season. Lee Tran: Let’s just say Steph wins his fifth championship and another Finals MVP. Where does he rank for you in your top 10 of all-time great players… The great Kobe Bryant has five rings only two Finals MVPs. So if Steph gets that, you gotta put him in that conversation… That’s just how basketball goes… Accolades wise you’re getting there.
Divij Kulkarni: I think for me if Steph wins another championship and another Finals MVP. With much respect to Kobe’s memory, I’d have to put him on my list above Kobe Bryant… I’ll quickly list the players Steph wouldn’t surpass… Michael Jordan… LeBron James… Kareem Abdul-Jabbar… Bill Russell and Wilt Chamberlain would in their own way be ahead… I think those five would still be above Steph… But after that man, it’s open season.
The Golden State Warriors have had a rough start this year, but now they have Stephen Curry and Andrew Wiggins back in the fold. Hopefully, they are able to go on a run, and it is quite possible that we’ll see Stephen Curry win his fifth championship this year.
