The Asian elephant, African Forest elephant, and African Savanna elephant are the three different species of elephants.

African elephants are reported to have ears that are far larger than those of their forebears and that are shaped like the African continent, whereas Asian elephants are said to have ears that resemble the Iɴᴅɪᴀn subcontinent.

The African Savanna elephant is the world’s biggest land animal. Adult male bull elephants can grow up to 3 meters tall and weigh up to 6,000 kilos on average. When compared to the 60 to 70 years that wild elephants can live, males barely reach their full size until they are 35 to 40 years old. Also, it’s not just adults; even calves are enormous! A young elephant can weigh up to 120 kilograms, or 19 stone.

Elephant trunks have over 150,000 muscle cells. It has been observed that Asian elephants will pick up a peanut, shell it, blow out the shell, and then eat the nut; these animals’ trunks may be the most delicate parts of any mammal. Elephants drink water by sucking it up with their bulky trunks, which may hold up to 8 liters. They also use their trunk as a snorkel when they swim.

Elephants eat a range of things, including ɢʀᴀsses, leaves, shrubs, fruits, and roots, depending on the season and their surroundings. In very dry circumstances, elephants will eat more woody plant and animal parts, such as twigs, branches, and bark. They must eat up to 150 kg of food per day, which is equivalent to about 375 cans of baked beans, even if up to half of this quantity may not be digested.
