“I Do What I Want To Do On The Floor,” says LeBron James when asked how his scoring style has changed.

LeBron James Explains How He Has Evolved As A Scorer: "I Do What I Want To Do On The Floor..." - Fadeaway World

Most people agree that LeBron James’ ability to make plays is his strongest talent. The Los Angeles Lakers great has, however, also improved his scoring ability over the years. LeBron James is now averaging 29.0 PPG, 8.2 RPG, and 6.6 APG.

Earlier in his career, LeBron James relied mostly on his rim prowess and athleticism to score. However, he has diversified his game with time and is now a legitimate three-level scorer. Recently, LeBron James explained how he has evolved as a scorer.

The best teacher in life is experience. Over the course of my career, I’ve gotten better at every facet of my game. There was times where I didn’t really have a low post game… there were times where I wasn’t a threat from the midrange, there was times where I wasn’t a threat from the outside. There was times where you could literally just try bait me into doing things I wasn’t great at.

I’ve evolved to where I do what I want to do on the floor. I take the shot that I want to take… I’ve learned a lot over the years.

There’s no questioning LeBron James’ improvement, and it is insane to think about how versatile his skillset is on offense as of now. It is clear that his skill has managed to offset his slight drop in athleticism, and his production with the Los Angeles Lakers from a scoring standpoint is insane for his age.

LeBron James Previously Admitted That He Hates Not Being Viewed As One Of The Best Scorers

Due to his overall game, LeBron James’ scoring often gets overlooked by fans and analysts. Once, LeBron James admitted that he hates not being mentioned as one of the greatest scorers ever.

“The crazy thing is I’m not like a natural scorer,” James said. “I love getting my guys involved, I’ve always been that way. The point of seeing my teammate succeed off my pass. I’ve always been that type of guy. And to sit on top of the food chain in the most points scored in the history of the game is like it’s weird to me. When they talk about the best scorers of all time, they never mention my name. It pisses me off. They don’t ever bring my name to it.”

It is easy to see why LeBron James is upset about this issue. He is definitely underrated in that department, mostly because that has never been the primary focus of his game as a pass-first player.

Hopefully, we see LeBron James get more respect as a scorer in the future. That will likely come with him breaking the all-time scoring record, as that will mark his true dominance as a scorer.
