Rewatching the first season of House of the Dragon is a great way to pass the time while we wait for the second season.
Episode 8 of House of the Dragon was packed with dramatic moments that peaked when Aemond went on with his less-than-sincere toast and quickly turned the family dinner into yet another brawl.
However, if you watch the scene closely like Redditor Hedwigisbae did, you can spot a certain someone clearly being ready to defend her betrothed when Aemond knock Jacaerys to the ground. Baela had to be held back by Rhaena, or else she would definitely step into the fight — and who knows, maybe the Greens-Blacks conflict could have been resolved right there.
“I saw this too. It’s why I was pissed about the Baela deleted scene. It shows how she’s very much the female version of Daemon the way she’s described in the book,” Redditor PeakDismal52 said.
The chemistry between Jace and Baela was among the few truly wholesome and touching things in House of the Dragon while the rest of the show championed gore and violence. Naturally, Baela could not just stand there and watch her betrothed getting smacked by Aemond.
The scene remains to be one of the fans’ most favorite in House of the Dragon season 1. The “family dinner” perfectly displayed the chaotic dynamic between Alicent’s kids and Rhaenyra’s children that would soon escalate into a big Targaryen tragedy.
House of the Dragon season 2 is set to start filming in March, with HBO to schedule the premiere date later.
