Sergio Aguero has revealed that Lionel Messi was angry at him for ‘drinking too much’ during Argentina’s World Cup celebrations.
The former Argentina forward, 34, was prominent in the wild celebrations that followed dramatic penalty shoot-out win over France, having been a part of the team’s camp in Qatar.
The ex-Manchester City star, who was forced to retire from football because of a heart condition last December, donned an Argentina shirt and partied alongside Lionel Messi and Co on the pitch and in the dressing room afterwards.

Aguero has admitted that he ignored Messi as he joined in with the partying after the World Cup triumph
Aguero, who won 101 caps for his country, has opened up about being told off by PSG star Messi for drinking too heavily during the celebrations, including downing champagne from the bottle.
He admitted he ignored his former team-mate and friend as he continued drinking during the celebrations both on and off the pitch.
‘I drank a lot but I didn’t eat. We were world champions. If something were to happen to me, let it be there,’ Aguero told Tyc Sports.
‘Leo [Messi] got angry and told me ‘stop’. How [do I] stop? We are world champions, so happy.’

Aguero also revealed that he almost ended up in hospital lifting Messi onto his shoulders during the celebrations.
‘I lifted the best in the world. I moved my shoulders so that he would jump, but they started to get some stitches in my back,’ he said.
‘At one point I couldn’t take it anymore. I couldn’t even turn around. If I turned around, I would end up in a hospital. He realised it because I looked at him, we exchanged glances.
‘I said: ‘All good, you’re world champion, but my back hurts.’ And there he got off. He was on his knees afterwards.’

The celebrations continued back in Buenos Aires for a few days afterwards and Aguero almost joined in them on the trip, before remembering his family commitments.
Aguero added: ‘The boys wanted to take me with them to Argentina.
‘They told me to hurry up because the plane was leaving, saying ‘Come on, come on. Let’s present the passport, everything’.
