After four IVF procedures in five years, Janet Humphreys was on the verge of giving up hope, but an odd new procedure allowed her to fulfill her ambition of becoming a mother.
But then she and her husband Neil heard used the last shot way about a unique procedure being carried out at a clinic in Greece
Experts believe fatty acids in the egg can reduce the number of “ᴋɪʟʟᴇʀ ᴄᴇʟʟs” that occur in the immune system of some women and stop them from falling pregnant. Finally in January 20215 was a success and the twins came into the world. Then in an incredible twist, Janet fell pregnant naturally and has since given birth to baby Olivia, six months.
Account manager Janet, 38, said: “I can’t believe I finally have my twins. It really does seem like a miracle. It has taken so many years of sadness, but now I can finally hold them in my arms. And it’s all thanks to the yolk of a hen’s egg. It seems unbelievable. Then I had Olivia. I fell pregnant only a few months after giving birth so the egg must have still been in my system.”
Janet and her husband hoped to be parents, they tried four rounds I.V.F failed. It seemed that they were destined never to be parents.
Janet said: “It was so ʜᴇᴀʀᴛʙʀᴇᴀᴋɪɴɢ. Each time, the doctors managed to extract lots of eggs so we thought there was so much hope. But then nothing happened.”
But in a last-ditch attempt, the couple decided to try a different clinic, in Greece. They flew over for the treatment, which is only offered at a handful of private clinics in the UK and is not available on the NHS.
Janet said: “I’d never heard of using egg yolk to try to have a baby before, but I was willing to try anything. if that is the last chance ”
Janet started the treatment in Greece and after two embryos were put back into her womb, she flew home.
Janet said: ‘finally, the doctors told us the embryos were mature and good embryo quality so we kept our fingers crossed that it would work. I did a pregnancy test a few weeks later and it was positive. I was pregnant, It was an amazing feeling but we didn’t allow ᴏᴜʀsᴇʟᴠᴇs to get too excited. We had been through so much ʜᴇᴀʀᴛᴀᴄʜᴇ.”
A later scan revealed Janet was pregnant with twins.
She said: “I was so thrilled. After all, we had been through I was actually pregnant with two babies.” Her pregnancy went smoothly and the twins were born with Logan weighing 6lb and Lottie 4lb 13oz.
Janet said: “It was the most amazing feeling when I held them in my arms. Then Olivia completed our family. We are happier than ever.”
