—These are Five of the Coolest Muscle Cars Out There
1.) 1969 Dodge Charger R/T ( ~$40,000)
Horsepower: 290/330 hpEngine: 426 cubic inch ohv V8
This car was made famous in the tv show “The Dukes of Hazzard” but don’t let that change your mind about just how cool it really is. Even though it has become one of the most popular and well known muscle cars today, its specs are definitely conducive to its fame. It came with the original 3 speed TorqueFlite transmission by Dodge, which was a pretty innovative concept for its time. It goes 0-60 in around 7.0 seconds and it zips through with a top speed of 113 mph. For the 60′s era, this car is powerful!
2.) 1965 Plymouth Belvedere 426 Hemi V8 (~$30,000)
Horsepower: 425hpEngine: 426 cubic inch 8 cylinder
In a world of cool muscle cars, the Belvedere ranks high in every way, including its name. Built to be swift and lightweight, it earns a spot on our list for its 426 HEMI V8 monster of an engine. These were used for racing back in the day, especially when it was the feature car that won the Daytona 500 in 1964, driven by Richard Petty. For this reason especially it is still a well sought after car today.
3.) 1968 Chevrolet Camaro SS (~$36,000)
Horsepower: 350 hpEngine: 396 cubic inch Big Block V8
Can’t have a cool muscle car list without the Camaro SS. Still around today, this car has survived the trials of time and remains one of the best classic muscle cars out there. With a big block Chevy V8, it packs a lot of power for a coupe. The upgrade from the standard RS model, this Camaro SS has a chrome hood insert which makes the exterior look awesome. The interior is just as beautiful, including a wood-grained steering wheel that makes driving this car feel just natural.
4.) 1967 Ford Mustang (~$35,000)
Horsepower: 271 hpEngine: 289 cubic inch V8
The first generation of Ford Mustangs is what classic muscle is all about. Lightweight with a sporty look, the 1967 mustang has become a sought out collectors car for quite some time now. Many of them are available to buy in auctions and online, and the price tag on this isn’t too high at all. The 67 model was the first one to be redesigned, and it was definitely for the better. It came in a 2 door hardtop, fastback, and convertible. Even though this was the most basic of their versions and it certainly wasn’t as fast as the 428 cubic inch Cobra Jet V8, it still remains as one of the most stlylish cars from the 60s.
5.) 1969 Pontiac GTO Convertible ( ~$32,000)
Horsepower: 350 hpEngine: 400 cubic inch V8
Concluding our list of cool muscle cars from the 60s decade is no other than the 1969 Pontiac GTO. This vehicle is definitely a classic that paved the future for the 70s in terms of muscle cars. It’s standard package came with the 400 ci V8 engine that packed 445 ft/lb @ 3000 rpm of torque. Their was also the optional Ram-Air III and IIII which had 366 and 370 hp, respectively. What really makes this car cool though is the original GTO front look. It looks mean and fast but very clean at the time. This car is a really fun drive, so if you ever have the chance to get behind the wheel of one don’t pass it up (and also be careful because it’s seriously fast).
