ulian Alvarez will make his way back to Manchester City this weekend ahead of his return to playing action.
Pep Guardiola confirmed the Argentina World Cup winner’s training plan as he looks to face Chelsea on Thursday, ahead of sitting out the weekend’s visit of Everton.
He said: “[Alvarez] will come back soon, yeah. After New Year’s Eve, he will be here.
“He is coming back fit. He is in condition to train at a high level and to play, and after we will decide.”
Erling Haaland will continue up front in Alvarez’s absence and Guardiola challenged the Norwegian striker to improve his all-round game despite hitting 26 goals in 20 matches since joining City.
“If you look at his record you’ll see he scores lots and lots of goals which helps us win games,” he continued.
“This is the point I think, and when he performs at his best the team always benefits. Since day one we are delighted – not just with his contribution of goals.
“Hopefully he can continue improving, improving and improving as a football player because I have a feeling he can do better. Not just for scoring goals but as a football player.
“He’s young, we cannot forget that, and I think he has the mindset to do it.”
