The 2023 Golden Globe nominations were revealed on December 12.
For his part in Babylon, Brad Pitt was one of those nominees in the Best Supporting Actor category, although his friend Tom Cruise missed out on an acting nomination for Top Gun: Maverick, despite the film earning two nominations for Best Drama and Best Song. According to an informant, the Top Gun actor was extremely irritated with Brad Pitt and expressed it in a series of raunchy and spicy statements after being passed over for an award.
Tom expected to walk away with the award for best actor, so you can imagine his reaction when he wasn’t even on the list — he totally blew a fuse! This was the first time in years that Tom was so sure he had a slam-dunk win he was fine-tuning his acceptance speech.
This may seem like a shock considering last year Tom Cruise handed back awards in protest towards the Golden Globes’ lack of diversity in nominations. Another source alleges that this could be the real reason why Cruise wasn’t nominated this year. It was a very radical decision made by the award-winning actor. Because of the stir that was created due to the boycotts made by celebrities and creatives, last year’s Golden Globes made the decision to not have it televised with the results announced through a press release and social media.
According to insiders, Tom Cruise is also furious with his rival friend Brad Pitt. The War of the Worlds actor has apparently been “obsessed” with outdoing his Interview with a Vampire co-star, given that he already has an Oscar win for last year’s Once Upon a Time in Hollywood and garnered a Golden Globe nod for his role in Babylon.
It stinks that Brad, once again, seems to have milked his relationship with the foreign journalists at the Globes to get his own movie — which many consider way inferior to Top Gun — a ton of nods. As far as Tom’s concerned, this snub is all Brad’s fault!
Additionally, according to sources, Cruise may not only be irritated by Brad Pitt. Sources claim that he is avoiding ex-friend Will Smith’s calls after Chris Rock received the public Oscar smack. According to Cruise’s acquaintances, he has reached the point where he wants to flee Hollywood because of the recent political unrest there. If a Top Gun 3 has been discussed, that will be difficult for the actor who seeks thrills. He will also be required to promote Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Parts 1 and 2. Therefore, it might be easier said than done in this case.
