‘Top Gun: Maverick’ Shatters Premiere Weekend Viewership Record On Paramount+

Top Gun: Maverick became one of Tom Cruise’s most popular films and has been smashing the box office like the effects of COVID on theaters hadn’t happened at all.

The success of the film, which was released decades after its predecessor, can be attributed to the way it managed to appeal to a younger and more modern audience while also evoking a sense of nostalgia.

To see Tom Cruise play the character he last saw in 1986 and make the sequel to be his most successful movie, it is as if the actor has done a full circle. The addition of Paramount+ to the array of streaming services has given the audience another platform to view the movie on. Naturally, Top Gun: Maverick has become the most-watched movie on the streaming service.

Top Gun: Maverick, starring Tom Cruise, is one of these endeavors. Despite the pandemic’s effect on theaters’ declining attendance, the film dominated the box office when it was initially released. But the movie and how much the audience adored it also took over Paramount+ plus.

The movie sees an entirely new set of pilots who need to be trained for an intricately dangerous mission that falls under the Top Gun program. Pete ‘Maverick’ Mitchell gets assigned to train these individuals and there he not only faces his past but learns to move on from it. The movie saw audiences both young and old. Those who went to watch it for nostalgia as well as those who wanted to experience something new, all found a place for themselves in the movie. A sequel after decades is a risk but if taken correctly, can lead to a brilliant movie like Top Gun: Maverick.
