ERLING HAALAND revealed he felt “triggered” watching other players scoring at the World Cup while he sat on his sofa.
The Manchester City striker missed out on Qatar after Norway failed to qualify for the tournament.
1Erling Haaland admitted he was “mad” to miss the World Cup
But he has wasted no time in getting back on the scoresheet after putting another two past Leeds at Elland Road – making it 20 in the Premier League already.
He also netted against Liverpool in the Carabao Cup last week and admitted he was “mad” at missing out on the World Cup.
Haaland told Amazon Prime: “Being home, being a bit mad that I don’t play at the World Cup.
“I was kind of a commentator for the World Cup in my own home where no one listens to me.
“I kind of recharged my batteries and to watch other people score and win games in the World Cup kind of triggers me and motivates me and also irritates me.
“I’m more hungry and more ready than ever.”
Haaland reached 20 Premier League goals for the season in record time but he could have hit a hat-trick at Elland Road.
And he held his hands up after the match, joking he still needs to work on his finishing in training if City are going to catch league leaders Arsenal.
He added: “We win, that’s the most important thing.
“You see Arsenal at the top, now we have to hunt them, so that we win, I’m really happy.
“I just said it inside (the dressing room), I could have scored five, it’s the truth. For me, as a striker, I could have scored a couple more but that’s life, what can I do? I have to practice more.”
