Tiger Woods has confirmed his return to competitive golf alongside his son Charlie, but admitted he is not yet “sharp” enough to compete with the world’s best
Golf legend Tiger Woods is set to team up with his son Charlie for the 2024 PNC Championships, formerly known as the Father/Son Challenge. The tournament will take place December 19-22 at the Ritz-Carlton Golf Club Orlando.
Fifteen-year-old Charlie, a high school sophomore at the Benjamin School in Florida, will join his dad for their fifth appearance together at the event. “I’m very excited to head back to the PNC Championship next week with Charlie,” said Tiger Woods, 48, in a press statement.
“Playing together is something we look forward to and it’s always more special when you’re surrounded by friends and family.”
Having not played since missing the cut at The Open in July, Woods has participated in only five events this year. “I’m not tournament sharp yet. I’m still not there,” he confessed to CNN recently. “These are 20 of the best players in the world and I’m not sharp enough to compete against them at this level. So when I’m ready to compete and play at this level, then I will.”
The Woods duo isn’t the only notable family hitting the greens; they’ll be joined by Paddy and three-time major winner Padraig Harrington. “My two lads would both like to partner me, so it’s great that they are sharing it,” Harrington expressed. “I’m so pleased that they are both loving playing golf and that our family is able to experience this unique tournament together.”
Bernhard Langer and Jason Langer, the German duo, clinched the 2023 PNC Championship title, marking Bernhard’s fourth victory. He previously won one title with Jason in 2019 and two with his other son, Stefan, in 2005 and 2006.
