Vinicius Jnr’s agent gives definitive verdict on Premier League transfer links

Vinicius Jnr is set to have a glittering career at the top level of European football, having already won the Champions League and played in a World Cup for Brazil.

Vinicius Jnr’s agent has suggested the Brazilian winger is likely to remain at Real Madrid for the entirety of his playing career despite reports linking him with a move to the Premier League.

The 22-year-old has become one of the most-feared attackers in world football, as evidenced by his stunning strike against Manchester City last week. However, Vinicius has been subject to some abhorrent racist abuse in LaLiga this season, whilst the division has slipped behind the Premier League as the game’s biggest domestic league.

That has led to speculation surrounding Vinicius’ future, particularly as Real continue to be linked with a move for Kylian Mbappe. Yet despite some of his treatment in Spain this season, Vinicius’ long-time agent, Frederico Pena, revealed that a Premier League transfer is unlikely any time soon due to his happiness in Madrid.

Speaking to the Daily Telegraph, Pena – who negotiated his client’s transfer to the Bernabeu back in 2018 – said: “Vini is very close with Real Madrid and he’s so happy there. He’s very at ease, he loves the club. He’s been there so long, he’s kind of turned into a man there.”

Vinicius has already played 222 games for Real in five seasons at the club. His winning goal in the 2022 Champions League final etched his name into Real folklore and he has now been rewarded with a new contract, as revealed by Pena.

The deal has not yet been officially announced, but will see an extension until 2027, with an astonishing €1 billion release clause reflecting his talents, which has little chance of being activated any time soon.

Even with the increasing financial dominance of the Premier League, Pena does not expect Vinicius to be changing clubs in the near future, as he admitted the winger could well stay as a Madrid player for the rest of his career.

“I can’t really see that [a Premier League move] happening right now,” he added. “But who knows, these things change in football and there’s things you would never imagine seeing that happen. I would just say if he were to leave Real Madrid some day, it would make no sense for it to be somewhere other than the Premier League.

“But will he one day leave Real Madrid or will he be a one-club kind of player? I would tell you right now there’s a big chance that he’s the kind of player who stays in one club and makes history there and stays there for 15-plus years.”
