Star Wars themed vehicles and characters have been spotted taking over the world’s superyachts and tenders thanks to the imagination of design studio ThirtyC and superyacht builder Heesen Yachts.
Both companies released new doctored superyacht images to mark Star Wars Day, May 4th, including Heesen’s superyacht Aura and Lürssen superyacht Nord, which has been transformed into “Grogu”, a character from Star Wars spin-off TV series The Mandalorian.
ThirtyC has been creating the eccentric images since it launched in 2015 “just for fun,” according to studio founder Rob Armstrong. But now the images have become an annual occurrence.
“Over the years, our images have gained more exposure and almost become expected,” Armstrong said. “Each year is a challenge to think up a new creative angle for our audience and friends.”
ThirtyC’s images star a range of recognisable superyachts including SilverFast, Eclipse and many Damen support vessels. Armstrong said the yachts “have provided a great canvas”. Legendary Star Wars vehicles, including W-Wings, AT-ATs- and Tie Fighters have made an appearance.
“We generally produce image composites with the Star Wars theme, placing props, vehicles within the images. Credit must in part go to all the yacht photographers for the fantastic images,” he said.
Last year, the studio focused on inserting some of the franchise’s best-known characters, including Darth Vader and his stormtroopers, into a selection of superyacht tenders. These include the Cockwells Titian Tender, 48 Wallytender and Vandal 14m Open chase boats.
