le house has combined industrial aesthetics with elegant forms and textures in this penthouse apartment renovation in vietnam. located on the 33rd floor of a residential building in hung yen city, the project features brick and concrete walls, while the high ceilings allowed for the creation of a mezzanine system made of steel. set parallel to the apartment’s floor-to-ceiling windows, the mezzanine corridor provides an additional spot to enjoy panoramic views of the surroundings.all images by do sy
le house has designed the 180 sqm penthouse with industrial aesthetics and ‘raw’ materials such as concrete, bricks and rusty steel. the newly-inserted mezzanine level, where the more private areas are located, can be accessed via a spiral staircase that becomes the centerpiece of the space. the mezzanine is supported by a steel system, which was assembled on site as it was too large to transport in one piece to the 33rd floor of the building.
‘the owner of this house is an art-oriented person, so the extravagant and “rocker – signature” have always been reflected in the surface of raw materials such as concrete, brick and rusty steel,’ notes le house. ‘at first glance, everyone might think this is a workspace of an artist or even an art exhibition, and really, not many people are aware that it is just a house of an ordinary person who has the heart of an artist.’
more than 2/3 of the renovated area is dedicated to lounge zones where the owner can relax or gather with friends. other functions are arranged around these spaces, while recurring materials and tones throughout the penthouse create a cohesive atmosphere. private spaces include a comfortable master bedroom, as well as two more bedrooms for guests.
