The former Shichibukai have some of the most impressive crews in the One Piece series.
The Shichibukai were known to be seven powerful pirates working for the Government in the world of One Piece. In exchange for their services, these pirates would be given a tremendous amount of freedom on the seas by the World Government and, most importantly, they would not be chased by the Navy at all.
Over the course of years, several powerful Shichibukai appeared in One Piece. While this system is no longer in effect, thanks to the creation of the Seraphims, the Shichibukai still made a mark on the seas of the world with their powerful crews. All of them were fearsome in their own right and still continue to dominate the seas.
8Baroque Works
The Baroque Works was an extremely powerful organization led by none other than one of the former Seven Warlords, Sir Crocodile. This organization was the first Sichibukai group that was faced by the Straw Hat Pirates. They were central to the plot of the Alabasta arc and it was quite easy to see that this organization was massive.
Their ranks were made up of several assassins, categorized by the Billions, the Millions, the Numbered Officers and finally, Sir Crocodile himself. Their strength was tremendous and they almost destroyed the entirety of Alabasta all by themselves.
7Gecko Pirates
The Gecko Pirates were central to the plot of the Thriller Bark arc and they were led by the Shichibukai Gecko Moria. With a bounty of 320 million berries, Moria was extremely powerful and, despite being out of shape, he posed a great challenge to Luffy. His crew was also made up of some extremely powerful people such as Perona, Absalom, Hogback, Ryuma, and several other zombies.
The Gecko Pirates were incredibly difficult for the Straw Hat Crew to take on. They made the entirety of the Florian Triangle their zone and every ship that passed through this area was taken over by them until Luffy put an end to that.
6Sun Pirates
The Sun Pirates are an exceptionally skilled group that was once led by the former Shichibukai and the current member of the Straw Hat Crew, Jinbe. This crew has sworn its allegiance to the Big Mom Pirates until recently, however, after the events of the Whole Cake Island arc, they became subordinates of the Straw Hats.
Long before that, they were one of the Shichibukai crews. Their forces include the likes of Aladdin, among other powerful pirates. Shortly before the Paramount War, however, their captain, Jinbe, was captured and locked away in Impel Down for not wanting to fight Whitebeard. His Shichibukai status was revoked subsequently.
5Heart Pirates
The Heart Pirates are one of the Worst Generation crews, led by the famous pirate from the North Blue known by the name of the Surgeon of Death, Trafalgar Law. The Heart Pirates are an extremely capable bunch and their captain received the title of Warlord during the two-year timeskip around the time of the Rocky Port Incident.

Law had acquired an incredibly high bounty by this time and was feared all over the New World. Other than Law, this crew also consists of some mighty powerhouses such as Jean Bart, Bepo, Sachi, and Penguin. They lost their Shichibukai privileges during the Dressrosa arc of One Piece, when it was made common knowledge that their captain had allied with Luffy.
4Donquixote Pirates
The Donquixote Pirates are another powerful pirate group that maintained control of the island of Dressrosa for quite a long time. Their captain, Donquixote Doflamingo, was the King of Dressrosa and, thanks to him being a Shichibukai, he could do as he pleased with this country. The pirate crew consisted of several strong officers such as Pica, Vergo, Monet, and Sugar, among many others.
Their captain, Doflamingo himself, was exceptionally powerful and feared all over the world as the Heavenly Demon. This warlord crew caused havoc across the seas for many years until Luffy finally put an end to them during the Dressrosa arc of One Piece.
3Buggy’s Delivery
Buggy’s Delivery is another powerful group of pirates led by none other than Buggy. Unlike the other crews, Buggy’s delivery is more like an organization as it consists of several mighty pirate crews. This organization was headed by Buggy until recently and, despite him not being all that powerful, his subordinates were exceptionally strong.
While they might not have had incredibly powerful individuals, the sheer number that they possessed made them a big threat across the seas. As a Shichibukai group, Buggy’s Delivery was absolutely incredible in both power and size. The World Government were wary of them and one of the reasons why Buggy is feared as much as he is, is down to this organization.
2Kuja Pirates
The Kuja Pirates are a fearsome group of female fighters from the island of Amazon Lily in the Calm Belt. This crew is led by the Pirate Empress, Boa Hancock. The Kuja Pirates have been active for centuries likely, however, they only became a Shichibukai crew recently. Their captain, Hancock, was given the title of Warlord only after a single voyage, showing how incredible a threat she is in the One Piece world.
Ever since then, they enjoyed all the powers that the Warlord title brings and they went on to assert their dominance on the seas. Their Shichibukai status was stripped after the conclusion of the Reverie and they were immediately attacked by the Navy, which, surprisingly, they held off very well.
1Blackbeard Pirates
The Blackbeard Pirates are one of the main antagonistic groups in the entirety of One Piece and they are headed by the current Yonko, Marshall D. Teach. Before they became a Yonko group, they were a Shichibukai crew.
Teach gained this position after defeating the Second Division Commander of the Whitebeard Pirates, Ace. After turning Ace over to the Navy, Blackbeard was made of Warlord. He gave up these privileges after freeing inmates from Impel Down and attacking Marineford.
