Star-Lord has been the greatest role for Chris Pratt as this gig is what put him on the Hollywood A-listers’ catalog. Since then, he has seen quite a few successes, starring in four Billion Dollar movies for Universal besides his MCU role. But recently, he returned as Peter Quill again, and MCU fans are left asking when they could see Star-Lord after Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3.
Disclaimer: The following article contains spoilers for Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3.
The Legendary Star-Lord led his cosmic family one last time in Guardians 3. Then, the responsibilities of leading the team were passed down to another rightful commander, Rocket Raccoon. After that, he decided to return to Earth, and the movie ended with a white screen saying,

Peter’s journey as a Guardian truly began when he was abducted from Earth as an 8-year-old. Now after Vol. 3, his Guardians journey has come to an end with him returning to his grandpa. It provides closure to his Guardians of the Galaxy trilogy, but his story in the MCU is far from done, as there are quite a few projects he could return to.
Earth is the central hub of events within the MCU, and that’s where Peter Quill wants to spend his foreseeable future. So, it’s safe to assume he will be caught in one or more upcoming battles. Avengers: Infinity War and Avengers: Endgame allowed us to see how his crossovers will work with other MCU characters like Thor, Iron Man, and even Spider-Man.

So, we’d certainly see a few other surprising crossovers involving Peter Quill now that he is on Earth once again. In the future, one could see him mentoring a young Nova, in case we are supposed to get a Nova movie with just Sam Alexander as a part of it.
Marvel could also grant Star-Lord a new franchise where he leads multiple Earth-based characters in Phase 7. For now, he could make cameos in the next two movies, such as The Marvels and/or Captain America: New World Order, as those appearances will prepare him for the upcoming Avengers crossovers.
But if not those cameos, then Star-Lord could straightaway team up with the likes of Captain America and Captain Marvel in Avengers: The Kang Dynasty, as that was probably the main goal of sending him to Earth, besides closing the Guardians trilogy.
Why it was important to separate Star-Lord from the Guardians of the Galaxy

While Rocket has been left behind to lead Guardians 2.0, Peter Quill is gearing up to enter the big leagues by teaming up with other big-name heroes of Earth. With him on the team, the New Avengers roster will be bolstered as he’d bring his leadership experience to help Sam Wilson and Carol Danvers. At the same time, Chris Pratt’s stardom will only help strengthen Avengers 5’s cast.
Guardians cast members, including Dave Bautista and Zoe Saldaña, were vocal about leaving the MCU after Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3. While their stories may have had fitting ends, Chris Pratt’s Peter Quill still has a lot more things to do.
So, it was necessary to send him to Earth so that he doesn’t have to hang up his quad-blasters along with the Guardians who want to retire. Instead, he could get exciting opportunities that would allow MCU fans to enjoy newer prospects involving the Legendary outlaw, Star-Lord, in films like Avengers: The Kang Dynasty and Avengers: Secret Wars.
