Zendaya has weighed in after a TikTok prank that claimed she was pregnant went viral.
The video, which appears to have popped up earlier this week, featured a fake sonogram photo that was photoshopped to look as if the 25-year-old actress had posted it herself.
But the Euphoria star took to her Instagram Stories on Wednesday to set the story straight, complaining that people are ‘just making stuff up for no reason.’
Fighting back: Zendaya, 25, has weighed in after a TikTok prank that claimed she was pregnant went viral, writing in her Insta Stories that people are ‘just making stuff up for no reason’; seen June 8 in NYC
The original TikTok videos were part of a prank called getting ‘Krissed.’
The clips opened with an image of a fake sonogram image showing a fetus, with Zendaya’s profile image photoshopped in to make it look as if she had posted the picture.
‘I love you. Halfway there,’ read the fake caption that was meant to look as if the actress had written it.
A fake comment with heart emojis from Marisa Tomei was even added to make the image look more real.
Bad timing: ‘See now, this is why I stay off Twitter…’ she wrote. Although TikTok users understood the pregnancy post to be a prank, it apparently fooled Twitter users after migrating platforms

‘You just got Krissed! Send this to your friends to #Kris them!!’ the video text read, but some users who saw the clip didn’t understand that it was a joke, especially after it started popping up on Twitter, where the format apparently wasn’t as common.
The prank has been previously to briefly fool viewers into believing a hoax, only to reveal that it was false at the end.
Rapper Lil Nas X was reliably hilarious as he reacted to the prank on Twitter on Wednesday morning.
‘i hate twitter because i’m sitting her about to congratulate zendaya via dm about a baby that doesn’t exist,’ he joked.
Another Twitter users included a popular Watchmen meme to make sense of the TikTok post.

One person joked, ‘I just fell to my knees in a walmart’ after seeing the prank post.

The viral hoax seems to have taken off partly because of the interest fans have in Zendaya and her boyfriend Tom Holland, who starred with her in the last three Spider-Man films as the title character.
On June 1, the former Disney Channel star posted a sweet black-and-white photo of the English actor embracing her from behind as she beamed ear-to-ear while she celebrated his 26th birthday.
‘Happiest of birthdays to the one who makes me the happiest <3,’ she captioned it.
The two have been the subject of romance rumors ever since Zendaya made a small but pivotal appearance in 2017’s Spider-Man: Homecoming, but it wasn’t until July 2021 that their relationship was confirmed when they were seen having a makeout session in a car.
In an interview with Total Film from November 2021, Tom said he was ‘very happy and in love,’ though he avoided mention Zendaya by name.

But later in the month he got much more candid with GQ as he talked about the loss of privacy that the couple have suffered since going public.
‘One of the downsides of our fame is that privacy isn’t really in our control anymore, and a moment that you think is between two people that love each other very much is now a moment that is shared with the entire world,’ Holland said of the car photos.
‘I’ve always been really adamant to keep my private life private, because I share so much of my life with the world anyway,’ he continued. ‘We sort of felt robbed of our privacy.’
Zendaya’s fans may have been primed to expect a pregnancy because Tom told People in December 2021 that he was looking forward to fatherhood.
‘I love kids. I can’t wait to be a dad — I can wait and I will, but I can’t wait!’ he said. ‘If I’m at a wedding or a party, I’m always at the kids’ table hanging out.’
