Midfielder Jack Grealish shared an interesting story about his relationship with his Man City junior, Erling Haaland.
Joining Man City from the summer of 2022 for £ 51 million, Erling Haaland immediately proved he was a bargain for the club. Accordingly, the 22-year-old striker has scored 51 goals and has 8 assists after 45 appearances in all competitions.
Most recently, Haaland also went down in history when he became the player who scored the most goals in a Premier League season with 35 goals . Besides, the Norwegian player also built a close relationship with another blockbuster of Man City, Jack Grealish.
Sharing on the Daily Mail, the second most expensive player in England expressed his admiration for Haaland’s professional spirit in practice and competition.
“Look at Erling. He’s the most professional I’ve ever seen. His athletic mindset is something you won’t be able to imitate.
Haaland does everything for football. Spend the day in the gym. Ten hours of therapy a day for recovery. Ice bath. Strict diet. That’s why he’s so brilliant.”
Despite having a close relationship with Haaland, Grealish refuses to follow the scientific lifestyle of his juniors, and can even get a little angry if asked to do so.
“I swear I can’t live like him. We have a great friendship. One day Erling said to me after the game, ‘Hey. Don’t go out partying tonight.”
I just told him to shut up and sit still and soak in the ice bath. But that’s between us. Two different people doing the job well in their own way.
I am not as successful as him. Erling has scored more goals this season than in my career. But if he had to do what I do, he’d feel bad too.”
After a lackluster first season, Grealish has gradually proven his ability to become a key figure at Man City. The English star has scored 5 goals and assisted 7 times in 27 Premier League appearances this season.
He, along with Haaland and De Bruyne, formed a destructive trio on Man City’s attack, often creating and taking turns scoring. The excellent performance of all three helped Man City sublimate in all competitions when leading the Premier League , reaching the semi-finals and finals of the C1 Cup and FA Cup.
