Even though Patrick Mahomes refrains from making religious comments in the public domain, his mother, Randi, has always been outspoken about the power of Jesus. She usually shares eye-catching posts on Instagram and makes biblical references. Recently, the mother of three picked out an iconic moment from the world of football, where the former signal-caller Tim Tebow instilled a sense of curiosity among 92 million people in a single night.
Some people believe in aliens and UFOs, while others call them fake. Some people believe in God, while atheists do exist in our society. Likewise, there have been several athletes in the NFL fraternity, who followed a holistic path of religion, and Broncos legend Tebow was no different.
Randi Mahomes shares the iconic John 3:16 moment by Tim Tebow
Being a quarterback’s mom, Randi garners a crazy fan following on social media platforms. Hence, she remains active on social media, sharing wise thoughts and glimpses of her day-to-day life. Moreover, her recent biblical references from Tim Tebow during the 2009 BCS championship game have gained widespread recognition.
“When Tim Tebow wore John 3:16 on his eye black during the 2019 championship game, over 92 million people looked that verse up on Google. That means over 92 million people heard the Gospel just because one man took a stand for Jesus!” Randi captioned her post with a photograph of the former quarterback.
The date Jan. 8, 2009, holds much significance in football history. It was the day when the BCS championship game was conducted. Per ESPN, the then Florida QB Tim Tebow wore an eye black, with John 3:16 inscribed on it. Fans didn’t give much attention to it, but three years later, on that day, Jan 8, 2012, Tebow played his first NFL playoff game and threw for 316 yards at an average of 31.6 yards per completion.
The night’s final hour ratings were 31.6, and the Steelers finished the game with a possession time of 31:06. All these figures link back to his game in 2009 and the inscription of John 3:16.
Fans were curious to understand its meaning, and hence, flocked (around 92 million) to the Google search engine to find its origin. Apparently, it happens to be a biblical reference that states; “For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.”. This quote was once again revived after Randi shared the incident on her Instagram story.
